Do I need an electrical COC to sell my house in Durban?

Yes. A valid electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) is legally required before a property can transfer in South Africa, and your conveyancer will ask for it. We inspect the installation, fix anything non-compliant we find (quoted separately first), and issue the certificate. A COC is valid for two years as long as no changes are made to the installation.

It starts from a few hundred rand for a standard home and depends on the size of the property and how many circuits and points we have to inspect — a flat is cheaper than a large freestanding house. If the inspection turns up non-compliant work, we quote those repairs separately so you only pay to fix what genuinely needs fixing.

Where the law requires it, yes — the work we do is issued with a Certificate of Compliance. That's your proof the installation is safe and compliant, which matters for insurance claims and is essential when you sell or transfer the property.

The price we quote is the price you pay for the work we agreed. If we open something up and find an extra problem — like brittle old wiring that also needs attention — we stop and quote that separately before touching it. No surprise add-ons at the end.

Do you offer a 24/7 emergency electrician?

Yes. Our emergency line is answered any time, day or night, including weekends and public holidays. A breaker that keeps tripping is doing its job: it's protecting you from a fault. Resetting it over and over doesn't fix the cause and can be dangerous. Switch off the circuit, give us a call, and we'll trace the fault — often it's a failing geyser element, a faulty appliance, or moisture in an outdoor point.
